Burns defeats Martinez - at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, Scotland.
Scottish hero Ricky Burns (29-2, 7 KOs) dethroned previously unbeaten and heavily favored WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez (24-1-1, 15 KOs). Scores were 115-112, 115-112, 115-113.
In the co-feature, featherweight Stephen Smith (11-0, 6 KOs) won a twelve round split decision over John Simpson (21-7, 9 KOs) in a clash for the Commonwealth 126lb title. Scores were 116-112, 116-114 for Smith, 116-114 for Simpson.

Light heavyweight Denis Simcic (23-1, 14 KOs) brutally KO’d journeyman Istvan Varga (17-12, 5 KOs) in round nine. Varga was taken from the ring on a stetcher.
Light heavyweight Predrag Radosevic (20-0, 8 KOs) padded his record against professional loser Thomas Hengstberger (14-29-3, 3 KOs) with a fourth round TKO.
Unbeaten heavyweight Goran Delic (17-0, 3 KOs) outpointed Attila Makula (3-6, 1 KO) over six.

Lightweight Edis Tatli (12-0, 2 KOs) defeated Rudy Encarnacion (21-18-2, 11 KOs) by eight round unanimous decision. Scores were 79-74, 77-75, 77-75. Encarnacion had a point deducted for a low blow.
Super middleweight Niko Jokinen (11-0, 4 KOs) dropped Ivan Maslov (6-5-1, 0 KOs) in round four and landed good punches in every round en route to a six round 60-54, 60-53, 59-54 win.
Welterweight Jussi Koivula (6-0, 3 KOs) outpointed Vatche Wartanian (9-3-3, 2 KOs) over six by scores of 60-54, 60-56, 60-53.
Female super featherweight Eva Wahlstrom (3-0, 2 KOs) stopped debuting Nadezhda Manakova in round five.

Charlie “Ota” Bellamy defeats Tadashi Yuba at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
WBA#13 OPBF and Japanese super-welter champ Charlie “Ota” Bellamy (15-1-1, 10 KOs), 153.5, impressively scored a successful defense as he pounded out a close but unanimous decision (116-113 twice and 115-114) over highly touted southpaw Tadashi Yuba (37-6-2, 28 KOs).
WBA#9 Japanese national lightweight champ Nihito Arakawa, halted Mitsuya Omura, at 0:54 of the fifth round.

WBO Inter-Continental middleweight champion Max “Tiger” Bursak (21-0-1, 8 KOs) defeated American journeyman Bryan Vera (17-4, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision. Score: 118-111 (twice) and 119-110.
