Zab Judah Vs Michael Clark

Zab Judah, who made a successful return to the junior welterweight division last month, would like to fight one of the top 140-pounders however unable to land a fight with one of the bigger talents in the light welterweight division, former International Boxing Federation light welterweight and undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah (39-6, 27 KO’s) will have to be content to face little known 37-year-old Michael Clark (40-5-1, 18 KO’s) on October 2nd, at the Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey.

Judah is in Las Vegas, where he's training with Eddie Mustafa Muhammad.

ESPN quoted Judah as saying - "I know he's coming to win, I'm just excited. I'm back in training. Me and Eddie have been in the gym putting in the work. I am looking to go in there and show the world that I am back and that I am the best 140-pounder in the world."

Judah, 32, fought at the Prudential Center on July 16 in his first fight since reuniting with his original promoter, Main Events, and knocked out Jose Armando Santa Cruz in impressive fashion in the third round.

Judah looked too impressive in that last fight. Judah destroyed Santa Cruz with a huge left uppercut in the 3rd, and showed massive power and speed all the way through the fight. Now that Judah is fighting at light welterweight, he looks faster and stronger compared to when he was fighting as a welterweight.

Currently, Judah is ranked #5 WBA, #6 IBF and #11 WBC.

None of the big names are eager to take on Judah any time soon.

WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan would likely have huge problems with Judah’s hand speed and power.

IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander did not look to convincing in his “win” over Andriy Kotelnik recently, and he too would likely not be overly keen to take on a big puncher like Judah.

WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley might go for a fight with Judah in the future, but only if he gets by Alexander in January.

Main Events promoter Kathy Duva is confident that with a strong performance against Clark, Judah will eventually land another big fight - "Zab needs to just keep putting together wins like he did in July with the idea to get a fight against one of the big guys in the division and eventually his marketability will trump their reticence to fight him," said Duva.
