In the co-main event, Kim "Sugar Free" Couture, ex-wife of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, was choked unconscious by local Calgary fighter Sheila Bird. As you can see in the video below, Couture's legs go limp and she is out for several seconds before referee Len Koivisto finally stops the fight.

Len Koivisto was very late in stopping the fight and should have been paying more attention. The referee is there to protect the fighters health, Koivisto failed to do so; his slow reaction could have had dire consequences. Both Couture and Koivisto should consider a carrier move away from MMA.
