  • World Championship Fighting today announced that Matt Phinney, a highly touted boxing champion in the Northeast is set to make his MMA debut at WCF 11 in Wilmington, MA on June 18th. Phinney is a two-time Golden Gloves Champion winning in both 2008 and 2010. In 2008 Phinney also captured the USA Boxing's New England Championship. Phinney is most widely known in the Mixed Martial Arts world as being the trainer for UFC fighter Jorge Rivera.

  • ATT Signs Bubba Jenkins who won the NCAA Division 1 wrestling championship in March and now less than three months later has officially joined the American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla. for a career in MMA. ATT has been making a push to recruit collegiate wrestlers and announced Friday the signing of Jenkins to the camp's professional fight team.

 

  • The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday 31st May released the salary figures for Saturday's UFC 130 pay-per-view at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.  Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Frank Mir led all fighters on the card, each pulling in $250,000 paychecks. Jackson made $250,000 – but no disclosed win bonus – for his main event win over Matt Hamill, a dominant unanimous decision. Mir pulled in $125,000 to show and an additional $125,000 for his win over Roy Nelson in the co-main event.

 

  • Cage Fighting Championship 17: TREKKO VS LISITA was held Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Southport Sharks Function Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the main event, CFC Lightweight Champion Bernardo "Trekko" Magalhaes successfully defended his 155-pound title with a 5-round unanimous decision victory over "Ruthless" Robert Lisita. The CFC 17 produced two draws. In the co-main event, former WEC fighter Muhsin "The Technician" Corbbrey and Australian Adrian "The Hunter" Pang fought to a fifteen-minute draw. Although the fight ended inconclusively, both fighters won the promotion's Fight of the Night honors.

  • Fedor vs. Henderson Official - LAS VEGAS – The superfight between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson, which has been rumored since shortly after Henderson won the Strikeforce light heavyweight title in March, is official. - Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced Saturday the main event for a July 30 card at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., a northwest suburb of Chicago. Emelianenko, a heavyweight, and Henderson, currently a light heavyweight, will fight at a catch weight of 220 pounds on the Showtime-broadcast card.

  • Fedor Emelianenko's manager Vadim Finkelstein spoke this week about Fedor Emelianenko's upcoming bout against Dan Henderson in July and foreshadowed on what fans could expect if Fedor is too lose to Henderson when they meet in Chicago: "I think that if Fedor loses to Dan Henderson, he will retire from Mixed Martial Arts. And like I said many times before, it will be his decision and we (M-1 Global) have no influence of any kind on whatever he decides to do. It's all up to him.But we hope for the best. Fedor is very motivated, and will be more than ready for this fight. He has a new goal, and is fully concentrated on reaching it."

 

  • Georges St.Pierrevs. Nick Diaz Confirmed - Wednesday afternoon UFC president Dana White confirmed via his official Twitter account the super-fight between UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz. The bout, which will be for the UFC welterweight championship, is locked in for UFC 137 on October 29. The fight will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both GSP and Diaz have gone undefeated since 2007, compiling a total of 19 wins between the two of them.
