Rest of the World versus Great Britain in Cardiff 

The International tournament which was part of the three day boxing festival “Night of Champions" ended in a draw between the two boxing teams (Friday 30 July)

The British were 6-5 up going into the final bout of the evening between Turner and Amin Isa at the Cardiff International Arena.

Drimnagh super-heavyweight Sean Turner secured a  draw for the Rest of the World

Turner, who was never behind in the bout, ensured it finished honours evening after earning an 18-14 count-back verdict following a 7-7 tie.

Meanwhile, European Youth champion Jason Quigley of the Finn Valley BC in Donegal lost out 7-4 to middleweight Anthony Ogogo, while Grangecon light-welter Ross Hickey lost 20-12 to Scott Cardle.

Boxers from Ireland, China, USA and Sweden made up the Rest of The World Team versus Great Britain.

Both the U.K. Team and the “Rest of the World” received a trophy from Vitali Klitschko, who is one of the boxing personalities attending the WBC event . Following the tournament, a cocktail and dinner reception was again held in the Blue Room at the CIA.

The twelve scheduled bouts included three female bouts which were contested over four two-minute rounds, while the men’s bouts were scheduled for three three-minute rounds.
