Scott Dixon the former Commonwealth (British Empire) & WBU Intercontinental champion is back again with his very own boxing gym.

“Dixon’s School of Boxing” in Valley road Birkirkara, is a dream came true for the former Scottish champ and one that he has been harping over ever since he took up residence in Malta, a few years ago.

I caught up with Scott in between training sessions at his new gym for a chat about his new venture and plans for the future.

Scott was quick to explain that he now has a complete different out look to life “The bad boy of boxing has seen the light” he said. Pointing to the Dixon name above the door he said “This is my future in the fight game, my contribution to the sport” – “Boxing is my life".

What about the future of boxing in Malta? – “Boxing in Malta is actually increasing in popularity, many come to train for fitness through boxing and fight sports” – “boxing exercise routines are increasing in popularity and we always have a high demand for Box exercise classes” said Scott.

I asked Scott about the type of activities being run in the gym apart from boxing – “Nowadays the concept of the fight game being limited only to boxing is over, we get a small percentage of members who train competitively, then there are those who use boxing as part of there cross training” we also have marital lessons we are now introducing, Zumba dance lessons, in September we shall be adding Thai Boxing sessions and MMA lessons”

So the concept is that of both a fight club and fitness centre? – “Yes we are open for business 12 hours a day, so we are able to offer a variety of classes in multiple disciplines for all levels” – “It’s all about having fun and keeping fit for life” said the former champ.
